Police arrest man in forest for COVID breach, South Australia

A man was found walking in a pine forest near the Victorian border last night and arrested for breaching COVID-19 directions.

Yesterday afternoon, Wednesday 5 August, police were alerted by a member of the public of a man walking in the pine forest along the Princes Highway, Victoria, near the South Australian border.

About 5.30pm, a police patrol located the man in the Glenburnie Pine Forest, about two kilometres inside the South Australian border. After a short foot chase, he was arrested.

The 35-year-old Renmark man was charged with breaching COVID-19 directions. He was refused police bail and is expected to appear in the Mount Gambier Magistrates Court today.
