Police arrest man over car break-ins in Adelaide, South Australia

A man has been arrested after he was found breaking into cars in the Adelaide CBD overnight.

Just before midnight, on Wednesday 8 July, police were called to Wakefield Street near the intersection of Hutt Street, after a member of the public reported seeing a man smash a window of a car and enter the vehicle.

Police patrols were quick to respond, locating the suspect sitting in a car rummaging through the interior.

On investigation, it was discovered windows had been smashed on two cars, with the man stealing property from one, before he was found sitting in the other.

The 18-year-old man form Adelaide was arrested and charged with two counts of property damage and two counts of theft.

He was bailed to appear in court at a later date where police will apply for compensation for both car owners.
