Police arrest teen after aggravated burglaries

Police have arrested a 17-year-old boy following aggravated burglaries in St Kilda East and Caulfield North this morning.

Officers were called to Chaddesley Avenue, St Kilda East about 12.50am after reports of males going through a garage.

Members attended and were told an Audi and another vehicle had left the area shortly before police arrival.

Police were able to confirm an aggravated burglary and an attempted aggravated burglary had occurred in the street.

An aggravated burglary then occurred at an address in Howitt Road, Caulfield North where a red Porsche Macan was stolen.

Units were already in the area and spotted the Porsche and other two vehicles.

Officers managed to avoid being observed by the drivers of the vehicles and covertly followed until the Air Wing was able to attend.

The vehicles split up and the Air Wing was able to follow the Porsche to the intersection of South and Tucker roads, Bentleigh where tyre deflation devices were successfully deployed.

The driver then increased speed which quickly shred the tyres and caused him to dump the car on Patterson Road, Patterson.

It is alleged the driver jumped fences and hid behind a water tank but was spotted by the Air Wing who guided in ground units to arrest the hidden teen.

The 17-year-old was arrested without incident and is currently assisting police with their enquires.
