Police arrest two men after police ramming and series of aggravated burglaries

Eastern Region Crime Squad detectives, with the assistance of the specialist support including the Special Operations Group, arrested two men in Chadstone yesterday.

The men were arrested on Power Avenue just after 4pm when the allegedly stolen vehicle they were travelling in was detected by police.

They were arrested as part of a broader investigation into a number of incidents, including a police car ramming in Mont Albert on 13 August.

A 21-year-old Heidelberg Heights man was injured in the arrest and was conveyed to hospital where he remains under police guard.

A 20-year-old man from Ashburton has been charged with theft of motor car, prohibited person in possession of a firearm, possess trafficable quantity of firearms and handle stolen goods.

He was remanded in custody to appear at the Ringwood Magistrates Court today.

The arrests form part of Operation Plymouth, an ongoing investigation into a series of aggravated burglaries, vehicle thefts, residential burglaries, firearm thefts and police rammings across the north-east, eastern and southern metropolitan areas.
