Police arrest two over stolen property, South Australia

A man and woman have been arrested after being caught with stolen power tools this morning at South Brighton.

About 7.40am, Sunday 25 August police patrols spotted a man and woman pushing a trolley and a wheelbarrow containing power tools on Yarmouth Street, South Brighton when they approached the couple they both ran off.

Cordons were quickly set up and with the assistance of PD Jax and the police helicopter, the woman was located in a rear yard on Lewis Street, while the male suspect was located on Yarmouth Street nearly three hours later hiding at the rear of a business.

Patrols returned the numerous stolen power tools to the owner from a home under renovation in nearby Margate Street.

The 28-year-old woman from Seacliff Park was charged with unlawfully on premises, hinder police, unlawful possession, theft and serious criminal trespass. The 32-year-old man from Happy valley was charged with , hinder police, unlawful possession, theft and serious criminal trespass.

They have both been refused bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court tomorrow.
