Police Charge Four After Burglaries In Melbourne’s South And East

Detectives have charged four teenagers following a string of alleged burglaries and a home invasion in Melbourne’s south and east earlier this week.

It is alleged that a group of teenaged males stole a grey Kia Rio from a property on Wards Grove in Bentleigh East, about 2.30am on Monday 4 November.

No one was physically injured.

Police allege that the group then gained access to a property on Were Street in Brighton, about 11.15pm on Tuesday 5 November.

They allegedly fled on foot when confronted by residents home at the time.

No one was physically injured.

The teens were allegedly involved in several incidents on Wednesday 6 November:

– an attempted burglary at a service station on Dandenong Road in Malvern East in the early hours of the morning

– a burglary at a service station on North Road in Bentleigh East in the early hours of the morning

– an attempted burglary at a property on Campbell Street in Sandringham about 12.20am

– an attempted burglary at a property on Cochrane Street in Brighton about 12.45am

– an attempted burglary at a property on Baker Street in Brighton about 1.15am

– an attempted burglary at a service station on Nepean Highway in Gardenvale about 3am

– an attempted burglary at a service station on Riversdale Road in Hawthorn about 3.30am

– a burglary at a service station on Glen Eira Road in Elsternwick about 4.30am

Police arrested four males from the Glen Eira and Bass Coast areas.

Four 15-year-old males were charged with burglary, criminal damage and theft offences.

They were remanded to appear before a children’s court today.
