Raptor Squad officers have charged multiple men for their alleged roles in kidnapping, torturing and shooting multiple people in Claymore last month.
About 9:30am Saturday 3 August 2024, police were called to a shop in Claymore following reports a 30-year-old man was suffering a gunshot wound to his torso and was seeking medical help.
A short time later, police were called to a reserve on Proctor Way, Claymore, after a different man, aged 29, was located with gunshot wounds to his head and torso.
Both men were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Liverpool Hospital – the 30-year-old man was in a stable condition and the 29-year-old man in a critical condition.
They have both since recovered from their injuries.
Police established a crime scene and State Crime Command’s Raptor Squad – with assistance from officers attached to Campbelltown City Police Area Command – launched Strike Force Bellshill to investigate the incident.
Initial inquiries led police to believe the incident was targeted and linked to organised crime.
Following further investigations, strike force officers – with assistance from officers attached to Tactical Operations Unit – executed multiple search warrants at homes in Claymore, Catherine Field, Bradbury, Thirlmere, Oran Park and Eagle Vale about 6am today (Tuesday 17 September 2024).
During a search of a Bradbury property a 24-year-old man allegedly assaulted an officer before being arrested and taken to Campbelltown Police Station.
The officer did not require medical treatment.
Following the searches, police also arrested a 26-year-old Oran Park man, a 23-year-old Bradbury man, a 21-year-old Claymore man and a 22-year-old Eagle Vale man before also taking them to Campbelltown Police Station.
The 26-year-old man was charged with three counts of shoot with intent to murder, two counts of take/detain in company with intent to get advantage occasion actual bodily harm, two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company to others, two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of others, assault person intend criminal activity of criminal group and robbery in company cause wounding/grievously bodily harm.
The 23-year-old was charged with three counts of shoot at person with intent to murder, two counts of take/detain in company with intent to get advantage occasion actual bodily harm and assault person intend criminal activity of criminal group.
The 21-year-old was charged with three counts of shoot at person with intent to murder, take/detain in company with intent to get advantage occasion actual bodily harm and assault person intend criminal activity of criminal group.
The 22-year-old was charged with two counts of take/detain in company with intent to get advantage occasion actual bodily harm and assault person intend criminal activity of criminal group.
All four men were refused bail to appear before court later today.
The 24-year-old man was charged with assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm and hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty.
He was granted bail to appear before Campbelltown Local Court on Thursday 10 October 2024.
Police will allege in court the 29 and 30-year-old men were forced into the back of a utility at gun point before being taken to an unknown area and tortured with a hammer, causing significant injury to the men’s hands before they taken to a park in Claymore where they were shot.
Investigations under Strike Force Bellshill continue.
