Detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit have today charged a man following a fatal collision in Alfredton yesterday.
The 32-year-old man has been charged with eleven offences including:
• culpable driving
• dangerous driving causing death
• negligently cause serious injury
• dangerous drive cause serious injury
• reckless conduct endangering life
• reckless conduct endangering serious injury
• handle stolen goods
• prohibited persons possess a firearm
• drive whilst disqualified
• use unregistered motor vehicle
• use cannabis
The Mount Pleasant man was remanded to appear before the Ballarat Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 24 May.
The charges follow a collision on Learmonth Street, near Arthur Street, where a black Holden Commodore sedan allegedly collided with a grey Mazda sedan about 11.50am.
The driver and sole occupant of the Mazda, a 71-year-old Alfredton woman, sadly died at the scene.
The 32-year-old driver of the Holden was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
His passengers, two 22-year-old women and a 1-year-old baby, were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
