Police charge man after assault; robbery in Burwood

A man has been charged over an alleged assault and robbery at Burwood overnight.

About 10.20pm (Sunday 24 January 2021) police were called to a home on Luke Avenue, Burwood, following reports of an assault.

Police have been told a group of up to 10 people arrived at the home and threatened the occupant, a man aged in his 40s, before demanding cash and assaulting him.

Members of the group then stole cash and mobile phones before fleeing the scene.

The injured man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for lacerations to the head before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a stable condition.

Officers from Burwood Police Area Command established a crime scene and conducted a patrol of the area.

Two men and a woman were located and arrested in a nearby street. They were taken to Burwood Police Station.

A 25-year-old man was charged with robbery in company and was bail refused to Burwood Local Court today (Monday 25 January 2021). He was remanded in custody to appear before Burwood Local Court on Wednesday 10 March 2021.

The other man and woman were later released from police custody.
