Police charge man after Carlton death 16 February

Homicide Squad detectives have today charged a man following the death of a man in Carlton last month.

A 23-year-old Port Melbourne man faced Logan Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 16 February and extradition to Victoria was subsequently granted.

The man had been arrested in Queensland on 22 January for unrelated matters.

He was subsequently charged with murder and will face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

This follows an incident on 17 January where officers were called to an apartment building on Drummond Street and a 42-year-old Carlton man was located with life-threatening injuries.

The man was transported to hospital, where he later died.

Investigators also arrested two teenage boys as part of the investigation.

A 14-year-old Seddon boy was arrested on 18 January.

He was charged with intentionally causing injury, recklessly causing injury, affray, unlawful assault and using a prohibited weapon and bailed to appear at a children’s court at a later date.

A 15-year-old Carlton boy was arrested on 19 January.

He was charged with affray, unlawful assault and theft and bailed to appear at a children’s court at a later date.
