Police charge man after driving stolen car while disqualified; knife seized in Shalvey

Police have charged a man after he was allegedly found driving a stolen vehicle while disqualified in Sydney’s west.

About 10.45pm yesterday (Wednesday 10 June 2020), officers from Traffic and Highway Patrol Command followed a suspected stolen Kia Cerato to a home on Heatherton Road, Shalvey.

Police spoke with the driver, a 26-year-old man, outside the home before searching the vehicle and seizing a knife.

Checks revealed the man was disqualified from driving until July 2020.

He was arrested and taken to Mount Druitt Police Station, where he was charged with five offences, including:

  • Custody of knife in public place
  • Enter enclosed land not prescribed premises and without law
  • Take and drive conveyance without consent of owner
  • Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period
  • Breach of bail

Police will allege in court that the man stole the car from a home on Labella Crescent, Quakers Hill, on Thursday 28 May 2020.

He was refused bail to appear at Penrith Local Court today (Thursday 11 June 2020).
