Police charge man after house fire- Unanderra

A man has been charged, following a house fire in the Illawarra region.

Just before 2am (Wednesday 2 March 2022), emergency services were called to Hurt Parade, Unanderra, following reports of a house fire.

Fire and Rescue NSW responded, extinguishing the fire. The house suffered extensive damage to the roof.

The four people inside the home, were able to get out safely, before emergency services arrived.

Following investigations, about 11am today (Thursday 15 February 2024), detectives attached to Lake Illawarra Police Station attended a correctional facility at Silverwater.

A 34-year-old man was charged with damage property by fire/explosive with intent to injure and destroy/damage property with intent to endanger life.

He was refused bail to reappear in Wollongong Local Court today (Thursday 15 December 2024).
