Police charge man after incidents at banks – Carnegie and Glen Waverley

Armed Crime Squad detectives have charged a man following two incidents at banks in Carnegie and Glen Waverley last month.

A 36-year-old Pakenham man was arrested at his home address in Pakenham this morning.

Police also located what are believed to be an imitation firearm at the address.

He has been charged with theft from motor vehicle, armed robbery, attempted armed robbery, theft, common law assault, and prohibited person possess firearm.

The man faced Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today and was remanded to appear again on 14 April.

The charges follow an alleged attempted armed robbery at a bank on Koornang Road, Carnegie on 17 December and an alleged armed robbery on Kingsway, Glen Waverley on 20 December.
