Police charge man after investigation into fatal crash in Western Region

A man has been charged after an investigation into the death of a woman following a multi-vehicle crash in the state’s Western Region earlier this year.

About 11.30am on Thursday 22 July 2021, officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District were called to Gollan Road, Gollan, about 60km east of Dubbo, following reports a Holden and a Ford had collided.

The 56-year-old female driver and sole occupant of the Holden died at the scene.

The driver of the Ford, a 45-year-old man, was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to Dubbo Hospital in a serious condition.

He has since been released.

Following an investigation by the Crash Investigation Unit, about 9.10am today (Tuesday 2 November 2021), a 45-year-old man was arrested at Dubbo Police Station.

He was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death-drive manner dangerous and negligent driving (occasioning death).

The man’s driver’s licence has been suspended.

He was given conditional bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court on Wednesday 22 December 2021.
