Police Charge Man After Non-fatal Shooting In Dandenong

Detectives from the Armed Crime Squad have charged one man overnight following an incident where a man was shot in the upper body earlier this week.

With assistance from the Special Operations Group, a 31-year-old Dandenong man was arrested yesterday afternoon in Hallam.

He has since been charged with intentionally cause serious injury, reckless conduct endanger life, use unregistered firearm, use firearm in a public place, possess ammunition, commit indictable offence whilst on bail.

The man is expected to face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court this morning.

With the assistance of Greater Dandenong CIU and Casey CIU, search warrants were subsequently executed at two residential addresses in Cranbourne North and one address in Dandenong in connection to the investigation.

Two imitation handguns, a set of nunchucks, ammunition and what appears to be methylamphetamine and cannabis were seized from the two Cranbourne North addresses.

The charges follow an incident on Monday, 26 February where emergency services were called after a man was located with a gunshot wound at the intersection of Fifth and Seventh avenues about 5.30am.

Investigators believe an altercation occurred between two groups of men who were known to each other.

A 25-year-old Officer man was conveyed to hospital to be treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries.
