Police charge man after Point Cook hit-run collision

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following an alleged hit-run collision in Point Cook that left a woman with life-threatening-injuries.

Detectives charged a 25-year-old man with negligently causing serious injury, failing to stop and render assistance and other traffic offences.

The Point Cook man has been remanded to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates’ court the evening

Emergency services were called to reports of a two-car collision on Dunnings Road just after 11pm on 26 May.

Investigators allege a Purple Holden Commodore travelling west on Dunnings Road, ran a red light at the intersection of Dunnings Road and Boardwalk Boulevard.

The Holden collided with another vehicle, a grey Volkswagen Golf travelling south on Boardwalk boulevard.

It’s alleged the driver of the Holden failed to stop before fleeing on foot. The passenger remained at the scene.

Police arrested the driver of the Holden a short time later at his address.

Both the driver and passenger in the Holden were un-injured.

A driver of the Volkswagen, a Point Cook woman, was taken to hospital with life-threatening-injuries.

Investigations in relation to the incident remain ongoing.

Investigators are asking anyone that may have been travelling along Dunnings Road prior to the collision and observed the purple Holden Commodore is urged to come forward.
