Frankston Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man after two police officers were allegedly assaulted in Frankston on Friday night.
It is alleged that officers responded to reports of a man attending a Foame Avenue address in a stolen white Jeep Grand Cherokee, about 6.30pm on 22 March.
During the arrest of the male, two police officers were allegedly assaulted.
The man allegedly slashed one of the officers with a box cutter, before getting into the Jeep and leaving the scene.
After calling for assistance, officers followed the Jeep through Cranbourne, before returning to Frankston.
Stop sticks were successfully deployed before the vehicle came to a stop on Cranbourne Road.
The man attempted to flee on foot but was swiftly arrested nearby.
Both members were taken to hospital for treatment.
Police allege that the Jeep was stolen from an address in Mornington on 2 March.
A 25-year-old man, of no fixed address, has been charged with 28 offences, including assault emergency worker whilst on duty, intentionally cause injury, recklessly cause injury, intentionally exposing emergency worker to risk by driving, driving after being given a direction to stop, reckless conduct endangering serious injury, theft of motor vehicle, unlicensed driving, and arson.
He has been remanded to appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 17 June.
