A man has been charged after allegedly stabbing another man several times at a railway station in Sydney’s west yesterday.
About 10.45pm (Thursday 14 July 2022), a 44-year-old man and a woman entered a lift at Kingswood Railway Station.
As the lift doors opened onto the main concourse area, police will allege another man lunged towards the 44-year-old man with a knife stabbing him in the chest.
A scuffle commenced between the two men with the alleged attacker breaking free and running from the scene.
The injured man collapsed on the roadway, before NSW Ambulance paramedics treated him at the scene.
He was taken to Westmead Hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
Officers attached to Nepean Police Area Command attended and were involved in a short foot pursuit with a man matching the description of the man on the Great Western Highway.
A perimeter was established after the man evaded police and, with assistance from the Police Dog Unit and PolAir, a 46-year-old man was arrested at a house on Rodgers Street, Kingswood.
The man was taken to Nepean hospital, before being taken to St Marys Police Station where he was charged with wound person intend to cause grievous bodily harm (DV), use etc offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention, and contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (Domestic).
He was refused bail and appeared at Penrith Local Court today (Friday 15 July 2022), where he was formally refused bail to reappear at the same court on Friday 9 September 2022.
