Police charge man after Strike Force Raptor seize firearm, weapons and drugs in Smithfield

A man will appear in court today charged after a firearm, prohibited weapons, and illicit drugs were seized at a home in Sydney’s west.

Investigators from the Criminal Groups Squad’s Strike Force Raptor, with assistance from the Public Order and Riot Squad, executed a search warrant at a home on The Horsley Drive, Smithfield, about 4.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 21 August 2019).

During the search, police located a shortened .22 calibre rifle, an air rifle, a bullet proof vest, a rifle scope, ammunition, a firearm magazine, and 10ml of GBL.

A 26-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Fairfield Police Station.

He was charged with possess shortened firearm without authority, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit (x2), possess unauthorised firearm, possess ammunition without holding licence/permit, and possess prohibited drug.

The man was refused bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court today (Thursday 22 August 2019).
