Police charge man after vehicle stop at Raymond Terrace

A man has been charged with traffic and firearms offences following a vehicle search at Raymond Terrace yesterday.

About 9.50am (Monday 24 July 2023), officers from Traffic and Highway Police Area Command were patrolling the Raymond Terrace area, when they observed a vehicle travelling on Irrawang Street.

The driver of the vehicle allegedly stopped in a driveway before running from the vehicle.

A subsequent search allegedly revealed a firearm located within the vehicle.

Following inquiries, a 37-year-old man was arrested at a home on Glenelg Street, Raymond Terrace, a short time later.

He was taken to Raymond Terrace Police Station, where he was charged with possess unauthorised pistol, acquire etc pistol-subject to firearms prohibition order, and drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.

He was refused bail to appear before Raymond Terrace Local Court today (Tuesday 25 July 2023).
