Police charge man after warrant in Diamond Creek

Detectives from Fawkner Embona Taskforce have arrested and charged a man with firearms offences after executing a warrant in Diamond Creek on Thursday 19 May.

Officers executed the warrant at a Everad Street address about 6am and took the man into custody.

During a search of the property it is alleged police located an imitation firearm, ammunition and an improvised explosive device at the property.

The Bomb Response Unit attended and conducted a controlled detonation of the device. There was no threat to public safety or injuries.

A 41-year-old man from Diamond Creek was charged with make threats to kill, prohibited person possess firearm, possess ammunition without a licence, possess drug of dependence, commit indictable offence on bail, possess explosive substance, make explosive substance and prohibited person possess firearm.

He faced Melbourne Magistrates’ Court last night and has been remanded in custody until 24 May 2022.
