Police charge man over assault at Wollongong 7 February

A man has been charged following an investigation into an alleged assault in Wollongong yesterday (Monday 6 February 2023).

About 5.05pm (Monday 6 February 2023), emergency services were called to unit block on Bourke Street, Wollongong, following reports of a physical altercation.

On arrival, officers attached to Wollongong Police District were told two men had been involved in a physical altercation, in which one was armed with a knife.

One man, aged 28, was located at the scene where he was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for a laceration to his arm and head.

A short time later, police located another man, aged 32, at a service station on Keira Street, Wollongong, with a stab wound to his hand.

Both men were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries under police guard; They have since both been released.

Following inquiries, the 32-year-old man was arrested and taken to Wollongong Police Station later that day.

He was charged with affray and refuse/fail to comply with direction under Part 14.

The man was granted conditional bail to appear before Wollongong Local Court next week (Tuesday 14 February 2023).
