Police charge man over baby formula theft in Burwood

A man has been charged after allegedly stealing baby formula and other health products from retail chemists across Sydney’s inner western suburbs this month.

Officers from the Proactive Crime Team at Burwood commenced an investigation following a series of retail thefts from chemists at Five Dock on Tuesday 10 November, Campsie on Tuesday 17 November, Ashfield on Friday 20 November, Burwood on Monday 23 November and Earlwood on Thursday 26 November 2020.

Following inquiries, investigators arrested a 50-year-old man on Flora Street, Sutherland about 11.00am yesterday (Friday 27 November 2020).

The man was taken to Sutherland Police Station and charged with five counts of theft from a retail store. Police will allege in Court the total value of baby formula and health products stolen was more than $6300.

The man was refused bail and is to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Saturday 28 November 2020).
