Police charge man over stabbing in Mascot

A man will face court today charged over an alleged stabbing in South Sydney yesterday.

About 2.15am (Saturday 24 October 2020), emergency services were called to a home on Robey Street, Mascot, following reports of a stabbing.

Officers attached to South Sydney Police Area Command attended to find a 60-year-old man suffering stab wounds to his left thigh and lower back.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to St Vincent’s Hospital for treatment. He has since been discharged.

It is alleged the injured man had been at a neighbour’s home when he was allegedly stabbed during an altercation with a man known to him.

A crime scene was established and has since been forensically examined.

Following extensive inquiries, a 42-year-old man was arrested after he attended Mascot Police Station about 5.40pm yesterday.

He was charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Sunday 25 October 2020).
