Police charge man over woman’s death – Rooty Hill

A man has been charged with murder following an investigation into the death of a woman in Rooty Hill on Tuesday.

About 8.15pm Tuesday (11 July 2023), emergency services were called to a home in Alice Street, Rooty Hill, over concerns for a woman’s welfare.

On arrival, officers from Mt Druitt Police Area Command found a 53-year-old woman had died at the scene.

A 50-year-old man – who is known to the woman – was found with injuries to his throat and arms.

He was taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition under police guard.

A crime scene was established and investigation into the death commenced.

Following inquiries, the man was charged with Murder (DV), contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (Domestic) and breach of bail.

He has been refused bail to appear before Mt Druitt Local Court via audio visual link today (Friday 14 July 2023).
