Police charge man with break and enter, assault and firearm offences in Mascot

Police from South Sydney Police Area Command have charged a second man with a number of offences following a break and enter whilst armed with a firearm at Mascot last week.

About 4.15pm on Wednesday 13 May 2020, two men allegedly armed with handguns gained entry to a house in McBurney Avenue, Mascot.

An argument between the two men and occupants of the house ensued, resulting in both men being disarmed. The men fled the scene.

Officers commenced an investigation and on Saturday 16 May 2020, arrested a 23-year-old man at Matraville.

The man was charged with four offences – special aggravated break and enter and commit serious indicatable offence, possess unauthorised pistol, not keep firearm safe and possess ammunition.

The man was refused bail and will next appear at Central Local Court on Tuesday the 26th May 2020.

Following further inquiries, detectives arrested a 25-year-old man at Mascot yesterday (Monday 18 May 2020). He was charged with three offences – special aggravated break and enter and commit serious indicatable offence, possess unauthorised pistol and assault occasioning actual bodily whilst in company.

The man was refused bail and will appear before Central Local Court later today.
