Police charge man with drug and firearm offences

Police have charged a 29-year-old man from Bridgewater with drug and firearm offences following a search of a property at Bridgewater on Monday.

Police searched the premises locating over 70 cannabis plants and five firearms, three of which were stolen from a property in Ouse in August.

Detective Sergeant Boyd from Bellerive CIB said ‘This is a positive result for the community. Firearms are a hot commodity for criminals and when they are in untrained hands, we unfortunately see the damage their presence and use can have on others’.

The man was bailed to appear before the Hobart Magistrates Court on 11 December 2023.

Anyone who has information, particularly involving the location of stolen or unlawfully obtained firearms are encouraged to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers Tasmania on 1800 333 000.
