Police charge man with further 65 offences

On Tuesday 11 July 2023, Child Abuse Squad detectives charged a 24-year-old man with an additional 65 offences as a result of their investigation into the alleged indecent recording of children, both boys and girls, at a sports centre in Craigie.

The man was first arrested on Thursday 25 May 2023, after police were called to the sports centre in relation to an incident involving a child being recorded in a cubicle, with officers later identifying further recordings.

As part of their ongoing investigation, Child Abuse Squad detectives recently identified further victims (boys and girls) and have charged the 24-year-old man, who is currently in prison, with an additional 65 offences.

The man is now facing a total of 140 offences that are alleged to have occurred between 23 February 2022 and 25 May 2023.

The 65 additional offences the man has been charged with are: –

• 61 x Indecently Record a Child under 13 years; and

• 4 x Indecent Dealings with a Child under 13 years.

He is due to appear before the Joondalup Magistrates Court on the additional charges today, Wednesday, 12 July 2023.
