Police charge man with Offences over Motor Vehicle Accident on Tamar Street at Launceston

Tasmania Police have charged a 21 year old Launceston man with in relation to a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Tamar Street, near the intersection of William Street, Launceston at around 5pm on Wednesday the 20th of November 2019.

The male was charged with reckless driving, driving while disqualified, evading police (aggravated circumstances) and driving an unregistered motor vehicle. The crash occurred as a result of the offender attempting to illegally pass a turning motor vehicle on the wrong side of the road. The offender attempted to flee the scene of the crash but was apprehended. He was detained to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court on the 21st of November 2019.

The road was temporarily closed, but has since been re-opened. Tasmania Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the crash involving a red Holden Commodore and a Red Subaru, or who observed the red Holden Commodore driving erratically before the crash in the Northern Suburbs of Launceston.
