A teenager has been charged after allegedly attacking a police officer at a shopping mall in Hornsby today.
Uniformed officers, from the Kuring-Gai Police Area Command, were patrolling the mall in Florence Street around 4.30pm today (Tuesday 11 June 2019), when they attempted to move on a group of young people.
It’s alleged that without provocation, a teenage girl has punched a female senior constable in the face and kicked her in the leg.
Following a struggle, uniformed and plain clothes officers arrested the 14-year-old girl.
The senior constable has been treated for soreness to her face and arm, which was injured during the arrest.
The girl was taken to Hornsby Police Station and charged with assault officer in execution of duty, and resist officer in execution of duty.
She has been granted conditional bail to appear at a children’s court on Tuesday 23 July 2019.
A 16-year-old male and a 17-year-old female were also arrested for unrelated street offences and later released.
