Police charge two after affray in Haymarket

Two men have been charged following an affray at Haymarket early this morning.

Just before 4am (Saturday 4 July 2020), emergency services were called to the entry of Central Railway Station on Chalmers Street, after reports of an assault.

Officers from Surry Hills Police Area Command, Sydney City Police Area Command and Police Transport Command attended and found a 48-year-old man suffering a head laceration.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a stable condition.

Following inquiries, two men – aged 24 and 26 – were located nearby on Kippax Street and arrested about 4.15am.

They were taken to Surry Hills Police Station and both charged with affray.

The pair have been granted conditional bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday 6 August 2020.
