Police charge two after Chadstone burglary

Stonnington Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man and woman after an alleged burglary in Chadstone yesterday.

Three people allegedly climbed onto the roof of a closed restaurant on Warrigal Road and forced entry into the premises about 12.30pm.

They allegedly refused to come out and police negotiated with them, before a man and a woman were arrested.

A 38-year-old Cranbourne man has been charged with burglary, attempted theft, going equipped to steal, possessing a controlled weapon, possessing drug of dependence and committing an indictable offence whilst on bail.

He will appear at Moorabbin Magistrates’ Court later today.

A 50-year-old Chadstone woman has been charged with burglary, attempted theft, going equipped to steal and trespass.

She has been bailed to appear at Moorabbin Magistrates’ Court on 12 October.

Police believe another man fled the scene on foot.

The investigation remains ongoing.
