Police charge two men after explosives located at Footscray warrant

Two men will front court tomorrow after police located a pipe bomb, drugs and firearms after executing a search warrant in Footscray on Monday 10 January.

Westgate Divisional Response Unit officers executed the warrant at a premise at Swaby Square in Footscray about 9am.

During the search they allegedly located what’s believed to be a homemade explosive device, drugs and firearms which were all seized as evidence.

The Bomb Response Unit attended and disrupted the device.

Two men, both from Footscray, were arrested, interviewed and have now been charged with an array of offences.

A 39-year-old man has been charged with –

Handle stolen goods

Possess Heroin

Possess cartridge ammunition

Possess imitation firearm

Possess firearm

Commit indictable offence whilst on bail

Prohibited person possess firearm

Fail to provide assistance under warrant for data

The second man, 33, was charged with –

Theft

Handle stolen goods

Obtain property by deception

Possess explosive substance

Manufacture an explosive substance (IED)

Both will appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
