Police charge two men after high risk driving in south-eastern suburbs

Monash Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged two men following reports of erratic and high risk driving across Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs yesterday.

A 19-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with theft of motor vehicle, conduct endangering life, burglary (x2) and theft.

A 20-year-old man from Carrum Downs has been charged with theft of motor vehicle, burglary (x2), theft and commit indictable offence whilst on bail.

The charges follow a protracted police response through a number of suburbs and on Eastlink, Peninsula Link and the Mornington Peninsula Freeway following reports the pair were in an allegedly stolen vehicle and driving at allegedly high speeds.

At times the vehicle was reportedly seen travelling contraflow to the traffic conditions, allegedly in excess of 150km/h and in an erratic manner.

The pair were arrested by police at a property in Cranbourne West after they dumped the allegedly stolen Hyundai at a shopping centre carpark.

Both men have been remanded in custody to appear before Moorabbin Magistrates’ Court today, Tuesday 5 April.
