Police charge two men over road rage incident at Wynyard

Two men have been charged in relation to a road rage incident on the Bass Highway at Wynyard, near the Mount Hicks Road intersection, around 5.30pm last night.

The incident involved a grey Mitsubishi Triton and a red Mazda CX5.

As a result of the incident, a 32-year-old man has been charged with aggravated assault and possessing a firearm when not the holder of a firearm licence. He had a gel blaster in his possession at the time of the incident.

A 26-year-old man from Wynyard has been charged with possessing a firearm when not the holder of a firearm licence.

Both men were bailed and will appear before the Burnie Magistrates Court at a later date.

Police remind the community that gel blasters, and imitation firearms that have the appearance of a firearm, are prohibited and illegal items in Tasmania.
