Police charge two men over Southbank stabbing

Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit have charged two men following a stabbing in Southbank this morning.

Detectives have been told a fight broke out between two groups of men on the Yarra Promenade about 12.20am.

The situation escalated and three men were injured.

A man in his 20s received a stab wound to his neck and stomach, another man in his 20s was stabbed in his back and stomach, while a third man in his 20s was stabbed in the leg and chest.

Police arrested two New South Wales men, both aged in their 30s, in relation to the incident.

They have been charged with three counts of intentionally and recklessly causing injury, along with possession of a prohibited weapon.

The pair have been remanded to appear in the Melbourne Magistrates Court later today.
