Police charge two over multiple property offences, Bellbird Park and Oxley

Detectives from the Centenary Crime Group and Acacia Ridge Criminal Investigation Branch have charged two people with more than 50 offences after police allegedly located stolen property worth approximately $70,000 yesterday.

Detectives investigating recent break-ins involving the alleged theft of electrical cabling and other metals, as well as construction and industrial equipment, executed a search warrant at Katandra Crescent, Bellbird Park yesterday morning.

Police will allege the search uncovered approximately $70,000 worth of stolen property, including mobile phones valued at around $40,000.

Police also seized a homemade firearm and ammunition, drug items, a bathtub, a sink, industrial welders, industrial tools and a significant industrial copper cabling.

Some of the cabling has been linked to an alleged theft that occurred in Coopers Plains in the early hours of May 31.

The phones were allegedly stolen when a flatbed truck was reversed into an Ipswich Road, Oxley department store at around 10.20pm on Wednesday, June 5.

The truck caused extensive damage to the department store, including to an external brick wall and glass cabinets that were smashed when the phones were stolen.

Investigations are continuing with detectives also trying to locate the truck used in the Oxley break-in and appealing for public assistance.

It is a 2001 white Mitsubishi Canter flatbed truck with Queensland registration 182-GSB stolen from a Richland’s business overnight on June 5. Anyone with information is urged to contact police (details below).

Two people, both aged 31 were arrested at the Bellbird Park address.

A Bellbird Park man was charged with 24 offences including nine counts of enter premises and commit an indictable offence, six counts of receiving tainted property and one count each of: possess category H firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence, no authority to possess explosives (ammunition), arson, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, evade police, serious assault police, stealing, wilful damage and attempted unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

A Bellbird Park woman was charged with 29 offences including 13 counts of receiving tainted property, 12 counts of fraud, two counts of enter premises and commit indictable offences, and one count each of possess category H firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence and no authority to possess explosives (ammunition).

Both appeared in the Richlands Magistrates Court yesterday and were remanded in custody, with the woman due to re-appear on June 14 and the man on July 5.
