Police charge woman after police pursuit in Western Sydney

A woman has been charged following a pursuit in western Sydney yesterday.

About 6pm (Tuesday 6 October 2020), officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command observed a blue Kia Sedan driving in a dangerous manner on Bolton Street, Guildford, before it turned right onto Guildford Road.

A pursuit commenced, with the Kia observed crossing onto the wrong side of the road and turning into Woodville Road and continuing onto Lansdowne Road and Railway Terrace before the pursuit was terminated on Mountford Avenue due to safety concerns.

With the assistance of Pol Air, the Kia was tracked through Guildford and Granville before it stopped at The Trongate, Granville, and three occupants were seen exiting the vehicle.

The Kia then continued driving through Auburn, Bonnyrigg and St Marys before driving into a car park on Station Street.

At this time, police observed two occupants of the Kia exit the driver and front passenger seats of the vehicle and enter the rear of a grey Holden Cruze parked in the car park.

Upon searching the Kia, police seized a mobile phone, sim cards, cannabis and methylamphetamine.

About 7.15pm, police stopped the Holden on Forrester Road, Ropes Crossing, and arrested four occupants, including a woman, aged 24, who is alleged to have been the driver of the Kia during the earlier pursuit.

She was taken to Mt Druitt Police Station and charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, and two counts of possess prohibited drug. A conviction warrant was also executed for other traffic, drug and property offences.

The Merrylands woman was refused bail to appear in Mt Druitt Local Court today (Wednesday 7 October 2020).

Police will allege that the vehicle travelled almost 100km since the initial pursuit was called by officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command around 6pm.

The three other occupants of the Holden were released pending further investigation.
