Police charge woman after St Kilda carjacking

Port Phillip Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a 38-year-old woman following an aggravated carjacking in St Kilda earlier this month.

The St Kilda East woman was arrested yesterday afternoon and charged with:

– aggravated carjacking

– attempted armed robbery

– recklessly cause injury

– assault with a weapon

– common law assault

– handle stolen goods

– deal property that are suspected proceeds of crime

– possess controlled weapon (knife)

She appeared at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court this morning where she was remanded in custody to reappear on 24 October.

The charges relate to the alleged carjacking of an 80-year-old woman on St Kilda Road about 1.40pm on 6 July.

The victim sustained minor injuries during the incident.
