Police charge woman after stabbing at Broken Hill

A woman will face court today charged as investigations continue into a stabbing in the state’s far west this week.

About 11pm on Tuesday (20 June 2023), police were called to a home on Wolfram Street, Broken Hill, after reports of a domestic-related incident involving two men known to each other.

A 37-year-old man was taken to Broken Hill Hospital before he was airlifted to Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment of a stab wound, where he remains in a critical condition.

Officers attached to Barrier Police District established a crime scene and investigations continue.

Following inquiries, about 1.30am yesterday (Wednesday 21 June 2023), officers stopped at a service station on Williams Street, Broken Hill, and spoke with a woman.

The 28-year-old woman was arrested and taken to Broken Hill Police Station.

She was charged with being an accessory after the fact to wound person intend to cause grievous bodily harm; hinder investigation serious indictable offence of other, and conceal serious indictable offence.

The woman was refused bail to appear at Wilcannia Local Court today (Thursday 22 June 2023).
