Police charge woman over drug supply after vehicle stop in Southern Highlands

Police have charged a woman over the alleged supply of prohibited drugs following a vehicle stop in The Hume region yesterday.

About 6.45pm (Thursday 23 December 2021), officers attached to Mittagong Highway Patrol stopped a Mitsubishi Magna on Wombeyan Caves Road, High Range.

Police spoke to the driver, a 46-year-old woman, who was subjected to a roadside drug test, which allegedly returned a positive result.

During a subsequent search of the vehicle, police seized a bag containing five bags of a white crystal substance – believed to be methylamphetamine – weighing a total of almost 17 grams. Police also located drug paraphernalia and prescription medication.

The woman was arrested and taken to Southern Highlands Police Station, where she underwent a secondary oral fluid sample that again returned a positive result for methamphetamine. The results will undergo further analysis.

She was charged with supply prohibited drug – indictable quantity, possess equipment used to administer prohibited drug, and goods in personal custody suspected being stolen.

The Marulan woman was granted conditional bail to appear in Moss Vale Local Court on Tuesday 1 February 2022.
