Police charge woman over theft of over $900k from business in North Sydney

A former contractor is facing more than 100 charges after allegedly defrauding a business of more than $900,000 over a three-year period.

About 8.25am on Sunday 26 January 2020, officers attached to Parramatta Police Area Command arrested a 41-year-old woman, following an investigation into fraudulent transactions by a contractor to a business located on North Sydney.

Police will allege that the woman, working as a contractor for the business, transferred a total of $988,017 to bank accounts in her name between July 2015 and March 2018.

It is alleged the transactions were fraudulently made to appear as payment to other contractors not known to the business.

Following her arrest, the woman was taken to Parramatta Police Station where she was charged with 109 counts of obtain financial benefit by deception.

She was given conditional bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Wednesday 4 March 2020).
