Police investigate armed robbery at Cleveland

Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at a tavern in Cleveland last night (January 8).

At about 10.15pm a man has entered the gaming area of a Shore Street tavern and approached the bar.

The man has then threatened a 46-year-old female staff with a rifle demanding money from the cash register.

The staff member complied, and a sum of cash was put into a bag.

The man has then left the tavern in a white car which was parked in the tavern’s carpark.

The man is described as wearing a full body dark coloured zoot suit, black gloves, white sneakers and a white face mask. He was approximately 175cm tall with a medium build.

At the time there were about five people on the premises.

No one was physically injured.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, with dash cam footage or has any information to contact to police.
