Police investigate armed robbery at Logan Central

Police have charged a teenager after a man allegedly had his car stolen at knife-point at Logan Central on Tuesday August 13.

Around 5.15pm, a 45-year-old Logan Central man parked his car on Blackwood Road and got out of the vehicle, when he was approached by a man and a boy.

It will be alleged that the boy produced a knife and threatened the 45-year-old, demanding money, before the pair forced him into his car and instructed him to drive.

The 45-year-old complied and drove the pair a short distance up Blackwood Road, before pulling over and giving them keys and a phone.

The man got into the driver’s seat and the boy into the front-passenger seat and allegedly tried to drive away in the vehicle, however crashed into a pole. The pair then exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot.

The 45-year-old man did not sustain any injuries during the incident.

Subsequent investigations lead detectives from the Logan District Child Protection and Investigation Unit to arrest a boy on Wednesday August 14.

The 13-year-old Logan Central boy has now been charged with one count each of armed robbery, unlawful use of motor vehicle, deprivation of liberty, receiving tainted property and two counts of burglary.

Investigations continue into the whereabouts of the man.
