Bass Coast Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a home invasion in Leongatha last night, Thursday 19 November.
Investigators have been told a man was found with serious injuries at a property in Long Street just before midnight.
The 61-year-old man was airlifted to a Melbourne hospital in a critical condition where he remains.
A crime scene was established following the assault and detectives are continuing their investigation.
