Police investigate serious assault at Gladstone

Police are investigating the serious assault of a man in New Auckland today.

Initial investigations indicate around 11.45am, a man forced his way into a Wattle Street home and assaulted the 36-year-old male occupant with a hammer and a golf club.

The victim was transported to Gladstone Hospital with head injuries.

A crime scene was declared. It is believed the men were known to each other.
