Police investigate tram assault in St Kilda

Transit Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating following an assault on a tram driver in St Kilda earlier this month.

Investigators have been told a man boarded a tram outside the Balaclava Train Station with a young child around 4.40pm on Saturday, 13 November.

As the tram travelled through St Kilda, the man became abusive, causing the tram driver to request he leave the tram.

The man then went to the front of the tram and assaulted the tram driver by grabbing her by the throat, through the driver’s window.

Police have released CCTV and images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
