Police investigating robbery at Barnes Creek at Mackay

Detectives from the Mackay Child Protection and Investigation Unit are investigating the robbery of two 14-year-old boys who were camping at Barnes Creek, outside Mackay early this morning (June 25).

The two boys were sleeping in a tent when it’s alleged two men woke the boys by banging on the tent.

One of the men allegedly threatened the boys with a fishing knife while the other physically assaulted one boy, before stealing property from inside the tent.

Neither boy required medical assistance and police are working with the boys to identify the men.

Investigators are appealing to anyone who may have seen two adult men near the campground on Barnes Creek Road between midnight and 6am, to contact them.

Investigations are continuing.
