Police investigating wounding at Aitkenvale

Townsville police have declared a crime scene in Aitkenvale, after a 46-year-old woman was stabbed during an alleged disturbance on Ross River Road this morning, August 8.

Police were called just before 1.30am and upon arrival the woman was able to provide information to officers.

She was transported to the Townsville Hospital in a stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police conducted patrols of the area and within fifteen minutes, identified a person of interest.

A thirty-five-year-old woman is now assisting with enquiries.

Officers are appealing for anyone who may have seen the disturbance, or who may have relevant CCTV or dash camera footage from Ross River Road near Elizabeth Street, to contact them.

No further information is available at this time.

Investigations are ongoing.
