Police investigating wounding at Townsville 30 October

Townsville Criminal Investigation Branch detectives have this afternoon charged a man with allegedly wounding a man in South Townsville today, Sunday October 30.

Investigators will allege around 3pm at a Griffith Street residence, a 32-year-old Hermit Park man and 45-year-old South Townsville man became involved in a verbal altercation which turned physical.

Police will allege the younger man destroyed household items, including crockery and used a shard to wound the older man, who sustained cuts to his arm and chest.

The victim was transported to hospital in a stable condition.

Police took the younger man into custody a short time later in parkland on Dean Street.

Police will allege the pair are known to each other.

A 32-year-old Hermit Park man has been charged with one count each of unlawful wounding and wilful damage. He was denied police bail and will appear in Townsville Magistrates Court tomorrow, Monday October 31.
